We’re sending a batch of trees to Vermont.
Last year, Emma started planting 5 trees for each new customer who joins us for email marketing and communications. The states where we plant the trees come from a list provided by our tree-planting partner, Plant-It 2020. Vermont was the only state on the list not to receive trees from Emma, but we “fixed” that last month by making Vermont the only possible choice.
Now we’ve got a fresh batch of tree-lovin’ places up for a vote. So where’ll it be?

Emma plants 5 trees for each new customer that joins the community for email marketing and communications, and each month we award trees to a state chosen by readers of this blog. The states where the trees go are from a list from our tree-planting partner, Plant-It 2020. Only Rhode Island and Vermont had never received trees since we started planting trees last year.
Until now.
For April, you chose Rhode Island in a narrow decision (54%) over Vermont. Thanks to 399 new customers in April, half of the 1,995 trees will go to Rhode Island. The other half will go to the equatorial region chosen by Plant-It 2020.
That leaves just Vermont. Help us reforest the Green Mountain state, won’t you?

Thanks to 393 new customers who chose Emma for email marketing in February, 1,965 new trees will soon take root. If you did the math, that’s five trees planted for each new member of the Emma community. Half of those will head to Florida, where *you* voted for them to be planted. The rest will head to the equatorial zone chosen by Plant-It 2020, our tree-planting partner.
Founded by John Denver in 1992, Plant-It 2020 plants an indigenous tree for every dollar it receives. Last year, thanks to our new community members, Emma planted more than 20,000 trees.
There were 382 new customers who joined in November. Emma plants five trees for each new customer. If you just did the math in your head, and you came up with 1,910 trees, you’re right. And you’re pretty good at math.
Those trees are headed to New York State, thanks to the votes received last month on this blog. Our tree-planting partner, Plant-It 2020, will plant half of November’s trees in the Empire State; the other half will go in an equatorial region of Plant-It 2020′s choice.
When we started this tree-planting thing this year, we hoped to be able to plant 10,000 trees, and we’ve doubled that (20,015) and there’s still a month to go. Plant-It 2020 only lists 12 states where it plants trees, and only four have yet to be chosen by voters on this blog. One of them is getting December’s trees. Tell us where.

I love to really get involved with a company or product. If there’s an opportunity to let a company know what I think, or take part in a test group, I’m there. Which means I fill out comment cards, surveys, even write reviews on iTunes as often as possible. So imagine the heaven I stumbled upon whilst meandering the streets of Coronado Island, California.
Bay Books is a small bookshop on Orange Avenue that has their own way of getting people involved. They give anyone the chance to write a review, then slide the review right below the book. It’s incredible. I found myself picking up books I normally wouldn’t have touched just because of strangers’ takes on them. If I lived in Southern California, I guarantee I’d make the trip to Bay Books as often as time (and money) would allow.
What Bay Books is doing is something that really draws me in, and makes me feel like I can be a part of their shop. And this goes for any company or organization, online *or* offline. Emma tries to do this by giving all of you reading this (yes, you, in front of your computer right now. Nice shirt, by the way.) the chance to choose where we’re going to plant trees every month. Through a partnership with the reforestation non-profit, Plant-It 2020, we plant 5 trees for every new Emma account. So, since you’re here, won’t you take a moment to get involved with Emma and tell us where we should plant our July trees?
With June behind us, we’re officially halfway through 2008, the year we set out to plant a tree for every new customer who joins Emma. I’m pleased to announce that we’ve planted a whopping 10,855 trees so far this year, with the latest batch from June on their way to Wisconsin soil to find a home.
Of course, now it’s July, and that means it’s time to vote on a new location for half of this month’s trees. Remember, the other half goes to the equatorial region of Plant-It 2020′s choice (they’re our fabulous partner in all this tree planting business). Also, remember that the states we ask you to vote on come from Plant-It 2020′s list of pre-approved non-harvest sites – it’s not that we’re biased toward states like Wisconsin, although few Emma staffers would turn down a lovely aged white cheddar. Anyway, take a moment and tell us where you’d like to send some trees…

If you’re new to Emma’s blog, you might not know that we plant 5 trees for each new customer that chooses us as their email marketing service provider. You also might not know that we ask our fearless blog readers to help us choose where each month’s batch of trees should go. Ohio was the winner of last month’s poll, so we’ll be working with Plant-It 2020 to plant half of May’s 1,630 trees in the Buckeye State and the other half in the equatorial region of Plant-It 2020′s choice.
Of course, it’s a new month, which means it’s time for a new poll:

Thanks for voting, compadre…
As a part of our continuing efforts to plant a whole lotta trees in 2008, we’ve just asked our friends at Plant-It 2020 to send 1,920 indigenous saplings in honor of the 383 folks who joined Emma in April (like who?). Those trees are heading to the state of New York, where you voted to plant April’s trees. Where May’s trees go is up to you, as always:

Oh, and thanks to all the lovely people who joined us in April. By signing up with Emma for their email marketing, they’re not only planting *new* trees – they’re also doing something nice for *all* trees by sending paperless email newsletters and campaigns.

Every month, we plant 5 trees for each new customer who chooses Emma for their email marketing efforts. Last month, you voted to plant 1,685 trees in beautiful Georgia, and now it’s time to decide where to put March’s little forest. And not to worry – we partner with Plant-It 2020 for our planting efforts, so these are indigenous trees – planted in non-harvest locations – which are cared for and protected their whole lives. All that’s left to do now is decide where they go, and that’s your job, compadre:
