Allow me to walk you through a real-life decision I made just yesterday.
When I stumbled upon an interesting link in my Twitter feed, I clicked through to read the article, and on the page I spotted an email signup form for daily updates.
Oooh, I thought. I bet I'll like these emails.
But then I thought, these daily emails are going to be delivered to my Promotions tab in Gmail, which I'm only in the habit of checking every few days. Will they pile up?
And *then* I thought, well, I check my email all too frequently on my iPhone, so if the emails are mobile-optimized, I'll probably read them every day when I'm eating breakfast.
But if they're not mobile-optimized, I might just end up unsubscribing. It's hard to expand my iPhone screen when I'm scarfing oatmeal, okay?
And my final thought? I'll just move the first "welcome to our list" email to my Primary tab in Gmail to give the content a fighting chance.
But alas, I subscribed and didn't receive a welcome email. The fate of my subscription hangs in the balance, and honestly, I'm tired of thinking about it.
Want to make sure your emails aren't relegated to inbox oblivion?
You'll catch new subscribers when they're most interested in hearing from you (and when they're most inclined to mark your email as "important stuff" in their inbox) and your content will look gorgeous on screens big and small.
Betcha it'll be your most engaging email, too!
