Staffer Q&A with Services Manager Emma Mathews
In our new series, Staffer Q&A, we sit down with our Emma colleagues, interview-style, to find out the "who" behind Emma, get a sneak peek into new features and integrations they're working on, and, of course, what they do when they're not at work.
Tell us a little about yourself, Emma. What do you do at Emma?
I’m the Services Manager here at Emma. That means I’m responsible for making sure that our customers have the highest quality experience while working with our Services team. I spend a lot of time communicating the value of our Services team to our customers — we help them use their Emma account to the fullest and get the most out of their email marketing efforts. And internally, we work with all the teams around the house to make sure everyone at Emma is up to date on our latest offerings.
Want to know more about our Services team and what they can do for your marketing? Emma Mathews gives you the 411 in our new video series, Behind The Glasses.
Totally the elephant in the room, but what’s it like being named Emma working at a company called Emma?
It definitely was an interesting adjustment when I first started working at Emma to realize 99% of the time people say “Emma,” they’re not talking to me. Around the office, some people will call me by my first and last name, or wave their hands in the air when talking about Emma the company to try and distinguish us. Three years later, I’m pretty much immune to the confusion, but I’m quickly brought back the second I talk to anyone outside of Emma.
And what about when you’re not at Emma? What do you like to do?
Outside of Emma, I spend most of my time working out, going out to eat at one of the many amazing Nashville restaurants, or just hanging out with friends. Nothing too crazy, but I do like to stay busy!
What project are you currently working on?
We are about to launch a new survey tool that will allow us to stay closer to our clients after they have worked with our Services team and make sure they had the world-class experience that is so important to us.
I’m also working on expanding our Services team to run as a full-service email marketing agency. Currently, our offering of custom services spans the realms of strategy, technical and creative services, and we’re looking to add copywriting to that list of expertise this year.
Tell us a little more about the Services team.
The Services team at Emma is made up of email experts that specialize in strategic, training, creative or technical services, all geared to help our clients see the best results possible as soon as possible. We’re committed to helping you do better email marketing and hit your goals faster. You can explore our full list of services at myemma.com/services.
What’s the most popular service you guys offer?
Our custom design service is very sought-after, but we see a lot of customers pair up with one of our email experts to help create and optimize their email strategy. It’s like hiring a new teammate, but without all the hassle.
Read any good books lately?
The last book I read was Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, and I recently just saw a trailer for the movie adaptation that is coming out — so excited!
Our readers are dying to know: What’s your spirit animal? Why?
My first instinct would be to say my dog, Pumpkin, because she is the sweetest thing in the whole world, but I don’t think that counts as a ‘spirit animal.’ I asked a colleague what my spirit animal would be and they asked if I had any dreams with animals in them recently. Well yes, I actually had bears in my dream the other night. Next, of course, I took a quiz online to see what I was matched to and … it was a bear! Coincidence? I think not.
