A couple of weeks ago, I posted about the importance of sending welcome emails to your new subscribers.  Since then I've asked customers to share their own welcome emails on Twitter and Facebook, and now I'm back to pair their handiwork with some pretty compelling stats. 1. Welcome emails are underutilized.

Only 57.7% of companies are sending welcome triggers. York County Convention & Visitors Bureau likes to stay above the curve, though. 2. When you send right away, engagement goes up.

Welcome emails tend to get higher opens and engagement across the board. Ten Thousand Waves is getting 60% open ad 29% click through on their brand new welcome email.

3. The people, they love a coupon. 

And you don't need to give away the farm, either. Boogie Wipes is offering a 50 cent coupon in their welcome email, and it's getting an 80% click through. Chinet offered a welcome discount of $1.00 and boasted a 93% click through!
